Actuarial First-Year Learning Community (FLC)
The Actuarial First-Year Learning Community is a community for first-year students who are interested in actuarial science and would like to learn more about the department, the courses and skills needed, career paths, and more. This program is one of many first-year learning communities offered in the Faculty of Arts & Science that support students’ transition to university life.

STA130 Mentorship Program
The STA130 Mentorship Program is part of the introductory course for statistical sciences, actuarial science, or data science degrees. First-year students are automatically enrolled in this peer mentorship program. Students will engage with upper-year mentors through one-on-one and group activities to be welcomed into the U of T community and learn about campus resources, as well as personal, career and social goals.
Your Actuarial Buddy (YAB)
Your Actuarial Buddy brings together first- and second-year actuarial science students with upper-year students (majors and specialists) who remember that feeling of, “What on earth is actuarial science and how do I navigate this industry successfully?” Topics covered include getting started, selecting courses, major industry players, non-traditional careers, actuarial exams, and more.
Statistical Sciences Second-Year Learning Community (SLC)
The Statistical Sciences Second-Year Learning Community is a learning community for second-year students in the statical sciences major or specialist programs. Upper-year mentors, faculty and professionals answer students’ questions on topics such as academic, grad school, and employment opportunities. This program is one of many second-year learning communities offered in the Faculty of Arts & Science that help students build community and develop relevant skills.
