We are excited to share the news that David Andrews, a U of T alumnus and professor emeritus in our department, will be awarded an honorary degree from the University of Toronto this spring. This prestigious award recognizes David's groundbreaking and transformative contributions to the field of statistical sciences, as well as his outstanding service to the public good.
During his eight year tenure as a chair of the department of statistical sciences, David promoted statistical knowledge and its application to research work at the university. He also provided critical support to media commentators tasked with predicting the results of more than 100 Canadian elections.
We are thrilled to see David's remarkable achievements and contributions to academia recognized with this honorary degree. The convocation ceremony will take place on June 14 at 2:30 pm, and we invite all members of the department to join us in celebrating this occasion."
