Description

The University of Toronto Sports Analytics Student Group (UTSPAN) is a tight-knit community of students interested in sports analytics that competes in the world’s largest competitions, develops members’ data science skills, and connects them to industry professionals. We have an exciting opportunity to tell you about.

This fall term, we are partnering with the Sport Performance Lab (SPL) at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) to host the inaugural SPL x UTSPAN Data Challenge, sponsored by the Tanenbaum Institute for Science in Sport (TISS). All students across Ontario universities are invited to work on a project using SPL’s cutting-edge basketball data. SPL staff will lead supplementary seminars and workshops. Select student submissions will have the opportunity to be presented in front of MLSE staff and compete for prizes! The kickoff event is on September 10th from 7-9 PM at GB120 (Galbraith Building) on the St. George campus, with a hybrid option available.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with your friends! Interested students can fill out this data challenge interest form.
