ACT390 In-Course Case Competitions

The ACT390 in-course case competition offers Actuarial Science students an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges, by devising innovative solutions for real-world industry scenarios.

This year's case put students in the role of strategic consultants for Wawanesa Insurance, tasking them to innovate and design insurance products tailored to engage the under-30 market segment. Competitors delved into the intricacies of product design, assessing its implications on indemnity and loss ratios while exploring effective distribution channels and cross-selling opportunities to drive membership growth. This hands-on experience allowed participants to apply their actuarial knowledge to tangible industry challenges.

Winners and participants of in-course competitions were offered priority interviews by industry sponsors and several students had received paid full-time internships through those competitions.
